Summer fun at SMU, PSA and Sweet & Sassy

Yes, I am going to catch up on blogging today! I have been remiss lately. I am on vacation in glorious Estes Park, Colorado, visiting family so I have some free time. I am sitting here on a beautiful sunny morning, surrounded by mountains and thinking about what a great summer we have had already.

Conner and his best friend Isaac spent a week at SMU summer camp at a boy's dream day - they build Lego Droids in the morning and created mini battlebots in the afternoon. What more could they ask for? This was Conner's 4th year at SMU Lego camp and it never fails to disappoint.

Maggie spent that week at home with her grandparents getting an entire 5 days of attention just on her and she took every advantage. Her reading improved, her swimming improved and I haven't seen her that happy in a long time. What six year old (or any age for that matter) doesn't love to have someone cater to their every whim. Lucky girl!

The next week Conner spent at Plano Sports Authority, skating, shooting hoops and generally running around with some kind of ball and lot of other crazy, running kids. What a blast! Perfect for an active kid like Conner. He got to eat pizza and hot dogs for lunch so he was happy!

While he was running down the court, Maggie was dancing down the runway at Sweet and Sassy at Willowbend Mall, singing karaoke and generally doing lots of fun, girly stuff. The last day of camp we picked her up early to head for the airport and she looked like a superstar, hair all done up, full of glitter, makeup, nails painted. She continued dancing all the way to Colorado. It was a perfect week for her.

We still have two months of fun left, the kids will hang out for an extra week in Colorado while my husband and I return to Plano and to work. Lucky kids! This is the first time we have left them anywhere without us for more than a day or two. I know they will have a blast but a week feels like a long time for mommy to be without them... I am not ready for sleep away camp yet! They are growing up too fast and I want to see it all. It's strange to think of all the experiences they have now that I only get to hear about vicariously!
